Lounging in Confidence
Regardless of what I’m falling asleep in, I’ve been a big fan of robes since I was little and donned my first fleecy Old Navy robe. You know, to wear while I applied my Lip-Smackers and picked out my sundress for the day. Now that I’ve grown, robes are my exclusive outfit of choice for post–shower rests (you know the type), drowsy walks to the bathroom in the middle of the night, and afterwork lounging.
When picking out a new robe there’s 2 important factors. 1, It should make you feel cute and confident. I’m a firm believer that there’s a new level of comfort and relaxation when you feel good in what you’re wearing. And 2, it should provide maximum comfort depending on your climate. Short and breezy in the heat, or long and plush if you’re in need of warmth. We’re aiming for peak coziness here and no corners should be cut in our quest.
The Robe that Won Me Over
A favorite influencer of mine had been raving about a certain Heidi Carey robe since fall. It had adorable scalloping detail down the front and across the hem of the sleeves and came in a variety of elegant colors. It’s claim to fame is it’s french terry material - a much softer, more lightweight version of the thick terry robes you’ve probably used at spas and hotels. It was definitely a splurge for me, but my current robe was looking less than desirable (make-up stains? or wine? probably both) and I knew it’d be the perfect match for chilly Wisconsin winter nights. The problem was catching it when it was in stock.
It’s not surprising that this robe can’t stay on the shelves. After a few months of chasing one down, I finally secured the blue french terry robe and it was as amazing as I'd hoped. Amazing enough that I think I need another color (and a second option while the other is in the wash). The french terry is soooo buttery soft and doesn’t stick to your wet skin as you slide it on like a plush fleece. It’s lightweight but still thick enough to keep you warm and cozy on chilly nights. The scallops are chic and classy and make me feel elegant even when my fingers (and wine glass) are covered in cheese dust as I binge episode after episode of Selling Sunset. It was exactly what I was looking for.
Added Benefits
There are a couple added benefits to look for when searching for a new robe, which only add to the reasons why I love the french terry from Heidi Carey. Not only does cotton terry do an amazing job at keeping you warm post shower or bath, but does an equally great job at absorbing moisture. So if you’re someone that likes to skip the towel dry, terry is a great option. Another thing to keep in mind is if you’re lounging, snacking, or applying makeup in your robe, getting something that’s easily machine washable is crucial. After a normal wash and a tumble dry, Heidi’s french terry robe will look brand new and ready for it’s next wear. What might be one of my favorite (and most underrated) parts of the robe is the attached belt. It won’t fall from the loops, become stressfully uneven, or get tangled in the wash. Also you’re going to need pockets. Heidi’s got those too.
More to Love
If you’re not a robe person (*yet*), Heidi has plenty more options to love. Aside from the robe, I have 2 of her nightshirts that I absolutely swear by. They’re 100% cotton, lightweight, breathable, and amazingly soft. I also keep one of her cotton robes on hand for warmer nights or to travel with. It’s the same feel as the night shirt and is perfect for tucking in a carry on. The best part about her cotton collection is that it comes in a variety of stunning prints, each one block printed by hand in India. She releases new prints every month, making it extremely hard to avoid adding unnecessary pieces to my already vast collection.
So whether you’re looking for something comfy and cool or cozy and warm, Heidi’s got options to appease any mood or climate. She’s also given us a discount for all Really Good Review readers to use on their first purchase from heidicarey.com. Just use code DISCOUNTCODE at checkout to get x% off!
