Understanding color theory—how it influences digital design—is key to any successful design project.

The internet. Some days it can be a terrible place, and other days it can be quite wonderful. Today, it was the latter. Boredom scrolling brought me to quite possibly the most glorious website ever, and I need to tell the world about it.

Not your grandma’s black licorice

My sweet tooth has a complete chokehold on me, so when I was targeted by an ad for licorice.com, I wasted no time. Within seconds, my browser was open and I was staring at a headline that read “Shop our collection of 50+ premium gourmet licorice varieties from around the world.” First of all, I didn’t even know there were 50 varieties of licorice. Second of all, yes.

All of a sudden I felt cheated that I had been going through my entire life thinking there were only two types of licorice: red & black. Where had these strawberry pillows and watermelon sour twists been hiding? While scrolling down the page, I felt like a kid in a candy store, except I had all the purchasing power and there wasn’t anyone to tell me “no”.

I ended up ordering three licorice bundles, “The Red Licorice Lover”, the “Founders’ Favorites”, and the “Sour Stack”. I never thought I would say this, but I’m an official licorice addict. Every flavor has just the right amount of sweetness and each bite is the most perfect combination of juicy and chewy. Not only have these small candies brought joy into my world, but they’ve made the perfect little gift for numerous people in my life.

Don’t sleep on this licorice

You may think you don’t like licorice, but I’m here to tell you, you’re wrong. Just browsing all the varieties and flavors listed on licorice.com is a fun time, but the real party starts when the black and red tubes hit your doorstep.
